Susan Sarandon Bio
It was 1968. Democratic Convention and there was a casting demand for a movie with many roles for young actors who disrupted it. Joe (1970) was auditioned in New York by two recent Catholic University graduates. Chris Sarandon, who had been studying to become an actor, was turned by the casting committee. His wife Susan was given the coveted part as Susan Compton who was the daughter of Bill Compton (Dennis Patrick). Dad Bill, Susan's drug dealer partner, is killed in the movie. Joe (Peter Boyle) is a bigot, who works on an assembly line, then meets Joe (Sarandon). Janet is involved with Dr. Frank n Furter, is the role of Janet in The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975). After more than fifteen years, Sarandon finally actively campaigned for Annie in Bull Durham (1988), traveling between Rome to Los Angeles at her expense. Sarandon said that "It was such an amazing script... it did away with many myths and challenged the American definition of success". "I went to the studio together with Kevin Costner and shook hands with his sexy assistants before boarding the plane. Tim Robbins, her Bull Durham (1988) acting as a support actor, was her first lover. He had two sons by the year 1992. This put Sarandon in an awkward position. Sarandon would leave her home to take on roles that were truly challenging. The result was four Academy Award nominations in the 1990s and for the best actress in Dead Man Walking (1995). Her first Academy Award nomination was for Louis Malle's Atlantic City (1980).
